wish i was… follows twenty-two year old Aisling as she journeys from Ireland to Thailand and Australia. Aisling is a young Irish woman who has lost someone and who finds herself on a flight across the world, rather than at their funeral. wish i was… explores identity, culture and the stereotypes of gender.
wish i was… was developed with Judie Chalmers Creative in residency at Theatre Development Centre and premiered at SHOW Festival in 2013. It played Collaborations Festival in Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin with the support of Cork City Council and Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre, London in 2015. It was also given a rehearsed reading in Axis Theatre and recorded for Irish International Radio in 2013.
