Since this morning 9 women have boarded a plane in Ireland, paid up to €1,000 and been considered a criminal in the pursuit of a safe abortion.

How far would you travel to make a choice?

How far would you go for a cause you believed in?

How far is too far?

"Woman" is an activist who is bringing a court case against the Irish government to legalise abortion. Now she needs a man, to be specific she needs sperm.

Brief was developed through research with Abigail Fitzgibbon of British Pregnancy Advisory Service, Mara Clarke of Abortion Network Support, General Practitioner Tony Burch, Solicitor Eugenia Low, activists Sandra McAvoy and Diane Munday.

Brief was work-shopped in a residency supported by Ovalhouse and was presented at SHOW Festival 2014.

Airport - Brief

"The most passionately polemical play to be staged in Cork in quite some time. The highly charged scenario engenders heated debate...a philosophical pondering on how we debate and how we represent things in theatre."
